Sunday Worship
Our Worship on Sunday is a celebration of God's glory! Let us tell you what to expect and why we do what we do! Our worship involves, prayer, testimonies, readings of the Bible, and many other facets. But the two core elements are music and preaching!

Music

“Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God.” -Colossians 3:16-17
Why do we sing songs in church? Is it really all that important? What benefit does adding melodies, harmonies and musical accompaniment to God’s Word have, when we could simply read or speak it? For one, the bible commands us to sing (Colossians 3:16). The Bible references singing over 400 times, and commands us directly to sing another 50 times! In fact, the book of Psalms is entirely made up of songs to and about our Lord! This in turn begs the question, why would we NOT sing songs in church?? From Worship Matters by Bob Kauflin: “A faithful worship leader magnifies the greatness of God in Jesus Christ through the power of the Holy Spirit by skillfully combining God’s Word with music, thereby motivating the gathered church to proclaim the gospel, to cherish God’s presence, and to live for God’s glory.” We all, as children of God, have the duty and the privilege of glorifying God and reaching others for His kingdom through our songs of praise to Him. That is our goal at Woodlake Presbyterian Church; and that is why we sing.

Preaching

Moses said to the Lord, “Oh, my Lord, I am not eloquent, either in the past or since you have spoken to your servant, but I am slow of speech and of tongue.” Then the Lord said to him, “Who has made man's mouth? Who makes him mute, or deaf, or seeing, or blind? Is it not I, the Lord? Now therefore go, and I will be with your mouth and teach you what you shall speak.” Exodus 4:10-12
At Woodlake Presbyterian, we believe that when the Word of God is accurately preached, it is God's own words to us. We believe that preaching should be based solely and entirely on God's Word, the Bible, and that it should be relevant to our daily lives, working through the Holy Spirit to change our hearts, our minds, and our lives. That is why every Sunday at Woodlake you will hear God's Word preached from our pulpit. We believe that the Bible is living and active, that it has power, and that it accomplishes the purpose that God has set before it each and every week. We'd love for you to come and learn with us of the great story of a king who gave his life for his subjects even though they were in open rebellion against him, the husband who paid a ransom for his wife even though she was unfaithful, of the One who created a people, knowing that one day saving them would cost his life. Come, be a part of God's story here at Woodlake EPC!
